Neptune Developments have spent many years presenting projects that would breathe life back into New Brighton and the surrounding areas.
Most of the projects unfortunately fell on deaf ears, for a variety of reasons. Now, finally the Waterfront Project has been accepted, and thanks to a £60m Regeneration scheme, Neptune Developments in conjunction with the North West Development Agency and Wirral Borough Council are about to make New Brighton 'the place to be' on the Wirral.
The Project was split into two phases, the first phase of the £60m scheme was completed late last year with the award - winning 800 seat Floral Pavillion and Conference Centre.
Phase Two, worth approximately £35m, includes a new WM Morrison Supermarket. a 66-bed Travelodge hotel, The Light - one of the country's first digital cinemas with 6 screens and 1000 seats, bars, restaurants, a watersports training centre, a new model boating lake, a public lido and gymnasium, as well as improved public transport links.
Bowman & Kirkland have been chosen to complete the work as one of the country's leading privately owned construction groups.
Once the work is completed, it will bring a huge boost to the local economy.
The Model Boating Lake, Marine Lake and new Promenade are due to be completed by Summer 2010, with the Morrison Supermarket ready just after Christmas 2010. The Travelodge, Light Cinema and some of the leisure buildings should be ready by Spring 2011 and the rest of the leisure buildings and lido to be completed by Summer 2011.
